Mature Content Policy

The age, labeling, safety, visibility and monetization rules for adult-oriented fiction on Veya.

Last updated September 14, 2026

1. Purpose

Veya supports fiction that may include difficult, violent or adult themes while separating Mature 18+ material from general-audience discovery. This policy explains what Mature labeling means and where the platform draws harder safety and compliance boundaries.

The Mature label does not override applicable law, payment-provider rules, hosting-provider rules, the Community Guidelines or other Veya policies.

2. Who may access Mature content

Mature 18+ areas are intended only for users who are at least 18 years old and who satisfy any additional age or eligibility requirements applied by Veya or applicable law.

Users must not misrepresent age or use another person's account to bypass Mature-content restrictions. Veya may restrict access when eligibility cannot be established or when local law or provider requirements require stronger controls.

3. Author labeling responsibilities

  • Choose the Mature 18+ rating when a story contains sustained or explicit adult themes that are not suitable for younger readers.
  • Use available content warnings accurately when material includes strong violence, sexual themes, disturbing subject matter or other sensitive topics.
  • Do not deliberately under-label a work to reach users who would otherwise be unable or unwilling to view it.
  • Update the rating or warnings when later chapters materially change the nature of the work.

4. Material that may require Mature 18+ handling

Depending on context and intensity, Mature labeling can be appropriate for strong or graphic violence, explicit language, sexual themes involving adults, substance abuse, self-destructive behavior, abuse, horror or other material intended for adult readers.

Fictional depiction is not automatically endorsement. Veya can allow stories to explore disturbing subjects while still applying visibility, warning, monetization or safety restrictions.

5. Content prohibited even when labeled Mature

  • Sexual content involving minors, characters presented as minors in exploitative sexual contexts, or material that sexualizes child abuse.
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery involving real people, sexual exploitation, trafficking or material intended to facilitate sexual abuse.
  • Content that unlawfully exposes private sexual material, doxxes victims or is used to threaten, extort or harass another person.
  • Material whose possession, distribution or promotion is illegal in a way that requires platform removal or reporting.
  • Content that independently violates Veya's Community Guidelines, copyright rules or other platform policies.

6. Visibility and discovery

Veya may exclude Mature stories from surfaces available to ineligible or unauthenticated users. Mature metadata, rankings, recommendations, author listings and notifications can also be filtered to prevent restricted material from leaking through discovery features.

A Mature story can still be subject to reduced promotion or additional warnings even when the user is eligible to view it.

7. Monetization and provider restrictions

Eligibility to publish Mature content does not guarantee eligibility to monetize it. Payment providers, payout providers, hosting vendors, app marketplaces and local laws can impose narrower rules on adult-oriented content than Veya's general publishing policy.

Veya may make a story non-monetizable, disable a payment route, delay payout review or require different handling when necessary to comply with provider rules, fraud controls or applicable law.

8. Reporting and review

Users should report Mature content that appears incorrectly labeled, visible to ineligible users, prohibited by this policy or otherwise unsafe. Reports should identify the story or chapter and explain the concern clearly enough for staff review.

Veya may temporarily restrict visibility while reviewing serious safety, exploitation or legal concerns.

9. Enforcement

Possible actions include changing a content rating, adding warnings, restricting discovery, disabling monetization, unpublishing or removing content, and suspending or deactivating accounts for serious or repeated violations.

Deliberate attempts to bypass age gates, conceal prohibited material, repeatedly mislabel Mature work or evade moderation can lead to stronger enforcement than an isolated good-faith labeling mistake.

10. Policy changes

Mature-content rules may change as laws, payment requirements, hosting rules and platform-safety standards evolve. Authors are responsible for complying with the current policy when publishing or monetizing Mature work.
