Community Guidelines

1. Core principles

Veya is built for original storytelling, discovery and constructive participation. Users can disagree strongly about stories and ideas, but they may not use the platform to threaten, exploit, deceive or target other people.

These guidelines apply to novels, chapters, covers, profiles, comments, reviews, support interactions, reports and other user-submitted material.

2. Safety and prohibited abuse

• Do not threaten violence, encourage targeted harm, stalk, harass or coordinate abuse against another person.
• Do not publish private identifying information about another person without a lawful and appropriate reason.
• Do not upload non-consensual intimate imagery, sexual exploitation material, or content intended to facilitate sexual abuse or coercion.
• Sexual content involving minors, or characters presented as minors in exploitative sexual contexts, is prohibited.
• Do not use Veya to facilitate trafficking, terrorism, serious violent wrongdoing or other illegal activity.
• Do not use the platform to distribute malware, credential-stealing material, phishing, scams or instructions intended to compromise Veya or its users.

3. Harassment, hate and dehumanizing conduct

Criticism of stories, genres, public ideas and creative choices is allowed. Repeated personal attacks, targeted harassment, hateful abuse or dehumanizing content directed at people because of protected characteristics may be restricted or removed.

Context matters in fiction. A story may portray prejudice, conflict or disturbing behavior without endorsing it, but titles, descriptions, comments and other community-facing material remain subject to these rules.

4. Originality and intellectual property

Publish only content you created or have permission or another lawful basis to use. Do not repost another author's work, translations, artwork or cover design in a way that infringes their rights.

Quotations, references, fan-created material and transformative works can raise jurisdiction-specific copyright or trademark questions. Users remain responsible for ensuring they have a lawful basis for what they upload.

5. Mature content and accurate labeling

Authors must choose an accurate content rating and add relevant warnings when publishing material involving strong violence, sexual themes, disturbing subject matter or other content that may require Mature 18+ handling.

Mature content is not a loophole for prohibited exploitation, illegal material, non-consensual intimate content or other content barred by these guidelines. See the Mature Content Policy for the separate 18+ rules.

6. Spam, fraud and manipulation

• Do not artificially inflate reads, ratings, reviews, follows, earnings or ranking signals through bots, coordinated fake accounts or deceptive automation.
• Do not post repetitive advertising, referral spam or unrelated promotional material that disrupts discussion or discovery.
• Do not use reviews or comments to extort authors, trade ratings deceptively, or impersonate staff or another user.
• Do not exploit bugs, payment flows, credits, payouts or access-control weaknesses for unauthorized gain.

7. Reviews and comments

Reviews may be positive, negative or mixed. Keep them focused on the work and avoid harassment, doxxing, threats, spam or fabricated claims about another user.

Authors must not use alternate accounts or coordinated users to manufacture ratings or reviews for their own stories. Readers must not use ratings as retaliation for disputes unrelated to the work.

8. Reporting problems

Use Veya's reporting or Help Center tools when you believe content or conduct violates these guidelines. Include enough context for staff to understand what happened and where the relevant material appears.

Do not knowingly file false reports, mass-report users as retaliation, or use reporting systems to pressure staff into private disputes that do not involve a platform-rule violation.

9. Enforcement

Enforcement may include warnings, content labeling, visibility restrictions, removal, unpublishing, monetization restrictions, temporary suspension or account deactivation. The response depends on severity, context, repetition, safety risk and legal obligations.

Veya may preserve relevant records when reasonably needed for appeals, fraud review, legal compliance, safety investigations or audit integrity.

10. Appeals

Where an appeal path is available, eligible users can ask for a moderation decision to be reviewed. An appeal should explain why the decision was incorrect or provide relevant new information rather than simply repeat the original submission.

An appeal does not guarantee reversal, and urgent safety or legal restrictions may remain in place while a review is pending.
